Vatican, World Youth Day officials release pope's Australian itinerary

SYDNEY, Australia (CNS) -- Pope Benedict XVI will have an intimate lunch with 12 of the young people attending World Youth Day in Sydney, and will hold a special meeting in the city with disadvantaged youths and those recovering from addictions during his July visit to Australia. "His Holiness has a very full schedule on his first visit to Australia," said Sydney Auxiliary Bishop Anthony Fisher, World Youth Day coordinator. "He has requested specific meetings in order to connect with the full range of Australian youth and the youth of the world." Bishop Fisher spoke about the papal itinerary just before the May 30 Vatican release of the detailed schedule of papal events in Australia July 12-21. Although the schedule provides minute details about the timing of the pope's public movements, it provided no clues about the location set to host the pope for three full days of rest July 14-16 to allow him to recover from the long flight and change of time zones.
