DUBLIN, Ireland (CNS) -- Catholic secondary school students in Ireland and Northern Ireland have been receiving a prayer card to raise awareness about vocations. The prayer card, which was launched officially May 22 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is one of several activities to promote the "Year of Vocations" in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The year was launched by Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin on Vocations Sunday April 13. It will continue until Vocations Sunday May 2, 2009. Archbishop Martin said the aim of the year is to raise awareness of "the common vocation that all Christians share through the sacrament of baptism as expressed through witness, love and service." During the year, the vocations of priesthood, religious life, marriage, single life and career choices inside and outside the home will be highlighted and promoted.
