Published: 2008-05-28
CHICAGO (CNS) -- Catholic Church Extension Society, one of the primary supporters of Catholic missions in the United States, has named Thomas E. Gordon to the Chicago-based agency's newly created position of chief operating officer. Gordon, who has a master's degree in business administration in marketing and finance from the University of Illinois, has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of corporate and entrepreneurial businesses. His areas of expertise include strategic planning, marketing, sales and finance. According to a statement issued by Catholic Extension, "Gordon's role is a part of an initiative ... to revitalize and restructure the agency in order to address the growing needs of the Catholic Church in America's mission areas, now and in the future." Catholic Extension's president, Father John J. Wall, announced the appointment. Before heading the Catholic agency, Father Wall was well-known for the work he did as the pastor in revitalizing Chicago's historic Old St. Patrick's Parish. Gordon was part of the priest's initial team for that project.
