USCCB Web site on papal visit to carry live stream of event coverage
Published: 2008-04-15
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A special Web site created by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for Pope Benedict XVI's U.S. visit will carry a live stream of coverage of the events, from the pope's April 15 arrival at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland to his April 20 departure from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Coverage on the site, www.uspapalvisit.org, will include remarks by commentators and guests, as well as live phone-in interviews with U.S. bishops and others. The coverage will start 15 minutes before each event is to begin. (Viewers should check the site for actual times.) The footage also will be packaged for viewing anytime. "It's a major event and for some a once-in-a-lifetime event. We want to make sure everyone gets a chance to experience it," said Joe Larson, USCCB's director of digital media, in an April 14 statement. The bishops' newly formed Office of Digital Media handles the Web presence for the USCCB and its affiliates along with video and audio production.
