
Propagation of Faith opens O'Meara contest for coverage of missions

NEW YORK (CNS) -- The Society for the Propagation of the Faith is accepting entries for its 2008 Archbishop Edward T. O'Meara Awards honoring writing about the missions in diocesan newspapers and Catholic magazines. The deadline for entries is Feb. 29. The awards will be presented during the Catholic Media Convention in May in Toronto. Categories for the 2008 awards, covering material published in Catholic newspapers in 2007, are: visits to the missions; news events from the missions, local angle or general; mission series (two or more articles about a specific mission country or aspect of missionary work or life); and original promotion of World Mission Sunday 2007, in cooperation with the Propagation of the Faith director. The category for Catholic magazine entries is a single article with a worldwide mission theme.
