Published: 2008-01-18

TRENTON, N.J. (CNS) -- Bishop John M. Smith of Trenton has appointed a new executive team to administer the diocese's official newspaper, The Monitor. Named to the newly established position of associate publisher, Rayanne M. Bennett will have general oversight of operations and will report to Bishop Smith. Bennett, who has served in Trenton as director of public relations for two and a half years, was also named secretary for community relations and chief communications officer. Her appointment follows the retirement of James A. Cassidy as secretary for community relations and general manager of The Monitor. Paula E. Glover, former editor of The Wyoming Catholic Register, is the first woman in the Monitor's 54-year history to serve in the top editorial post. She also served as director of management services with the Cathedral Foundation in Baltimore and worked at newspapers in Colorado and Wyoming. Glover replaces Joseph M. Donadieu, who recently retired as editor of the diocesan newspaper to serve in the diocese's Office of the Diaconate. Edward A. Heffernan, who has been on the Monitor advertising sales team for the past four years, will serve as business manager.
