Conference to feature worldwide leaders in Christian meditation

Published: 2007-11-16

SARASOTA, Fla. (CNS) -- Two Catholic priests who are worldwide leaders in Christian meditation will dialogue about contemplative prayer and the spiritual urgency of the times during a Dec. 7-9 conference in Sarasota. "Is There a Way Through ...? A Special Weekend With Two Christian Contemplative Teachers" will feature Benedictine Father Laurence Freeman, director of the London-based World Community for Christian Meditation, and Carmelite Abbot Thomas Keating, founder of Contemplative Outreach and the Snowmass (Colo.) Interreligious Conference. In a joint statement, the two priests said they believe revived interest in contemplative prayer or meditation means that "the Spirit is awakening the contemplative life among the people of God beyond the usual lay or clerical categories." Conference registration is $175 and should be mailed to: WCCM-Florida, 3905 Oakley Greene, Sarasota, FL 34235. Further information is available by phone at: (941) 378-2521.
