VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- As a mother, widow, and woman religious, Blessed Celine Borzecka reminds today's faithful that even an ordinary life can be holy if it is lived fully for God, Pope Benedict XVI said. Blessed Borzecka, who founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection, represents "the silent and heroic witness of many Christians who live the Gospel without compromise, fulfilling their duties and generously dedicating themselves to serving the poor," the pope said during an Oct. 28 Angelus address in St. Peter's Square. Blessed Borzecka was beatified during an Oct. 27 Mass in Rome's Basilica of St. John Lateran. Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins, head of the Congregation for Saints' Causes, presided over the beatification ceremony. During his Oct. 28 Angelus address, Pope Benedict told pilgrims that dedicating one's life to Christ is a "peaceful battle of love" that every Christian must diligently fight every day. In today's secularized world where God has been delegated to the fringes, paying daily witness to the Gospel is of primary importance, said the pope. Blessed Borzecka teaches Christians today that "every vocation is a path to holiness and the apostolate," he said.
