STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. (CNS) -- Father Mark Garrow, superior of the Marians of the Immaculate Conception province based in Stockbridge and the congregation's former superior general, died Oct. 19 of cancer at the Marian residence on Eden Hill in Stockbridge. He was 52. A funeral Mass was to be celebrated Oct. 25 at the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy on Eden Hill by Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell of Springfield and Father Jan Rokosz, current superior general. Burial was to follow in the Marians' cemetery on Eden Hill. Father Garrow played key roles in furthering the presence of the Marians throughout the world. As superior general in Rome, he led the expansion of the congregation's presence in the United States, Africa and other parts of the world. As provincial superior, he assumed leadership of the newly combined St. Stanislaus Kosta and St. Casimir provinces. The two U.S. provinces merged a little more than a year ago to form Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy Province.
