MOBILE, Ala. (CNS) -- Spring Hill College officials presented Mobile Archbishop Oscar H. Lipscomb with the school's Fons Sapientiae (Font of Wisdom) Award during May 13 graduation ceremonies. The award, the highest honor given by the Jesuit-run school, was presented by college president, Jesuit Father Gregory Lucey, and members of the college's board of trustees in recognition of the archbishop's "leadership, inspiration and vision." The award presentation cited the archbishop as "the most influential faith figure of the Mobile community, guiding members of the church in their spiritual, charitable and social justice endeavors," and called him an "authentic model of practical wisdom inspired by living faith." After receiving his award, the archbishop delivered the commencement address. He urged graduates to recognize their current achievements as keys for their continuing search for truth, further personal development and future works for the common good.
