OMAHA, Neb. (CNS) -- Music matters and when it comes to the liturgy, it matters there, too, said J. Michael McMahon, president of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. He was one of three keynote speakers at the national meeting of diocesan liturgical commissions Oct. 11-13 in Omaha, which focused on music, the liturgical rites and the formation of musicians. The three-day event drew more than 450 liturgists, pastors, church musicians, parish liturgy committee members and members of diocesan liturgical commissions. Groups came from dioceses across the country, including dioceses in New Jersey, New York, New Mexico and Missouri. More than half the participants were from the Archdiocese of Omaha. The conference was hosted by the archdiocese and Region 9 of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions.
