
Groups offer archiving workshop for members of religious communities

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (CNS) -- The Catholic Library Association in Pittsfield and the Center for the Study of Religious Life in Chicago are offering an introductory archiving workshop for members of religious communities next summer. It will be held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in Belleville, Ill., July 15-20. The workshop is designed specifically for those who are new to the archival field or who wish to update their knowledge of archival theory and practice to care for the archival records of their respective religious communities, including constitutions, directories, chronicles, serial publications, artifacts, audiovisual materials, and materials documenting the lives of individual members. The workshop will address archival issues of acquisition, appraisal, description, preservation, exhibit preparation and technology.
