Magazine is resource for newly married Catholic couples in Chicago
Published: August 14, 2006
CHICAGO (CNS) -- Catholic couples getting married in the Archdiocese of Chicago now have a new resource as they begin their lives together. Each couple who participates in marriage preparation, whether it's a daylong pre-Cana session or a Discovery Weekend, automatically receives a one-year subscription to Marriage Partnership magazine's special Catholic Couples edition. Marriage Partnership is a quarterly magazine published by Christianity Today. It offers a menu of Christian-oriented articles about married life, from how to divvy up the household chores to keeping the sparks in a marriage after babies are born. In the center, a 16-page special section offers topics with a specifically Catholic perspective, said Kim Hagerty of the archdiocese's Office for Family Ministries. Hagerty, who edits the section, said she looks for topics that are clearly Catholic, but not so much that they will scare away young people who do not see themselves as being overly religious. She keeps stories short, and for now is focusing on those that will offer the most to people in their first years of marriage.
