Published: 2006-07-26
NEW LONDON, Conn. (CNS) -- Catholic Digest magazine announced it has launched a special subscription program "to bring spiritual comfort and support to our military troops and their families" and to support the U.S. Archdiocese for the Military Services. The magazine is encouraging subscribers and nonsubscribers to purchase gift subscriptions to benefit a member of the armed services or a military family they know. People can also make an anonymous donation to the program. A portion of each donation will benefit the military archdiocese, which serves about 1.4 million Catholics around the world. It is responsible for the pastoral care of men and women in uniform; their family members; Catholics in the reserves, National Guard and veterans' hospitals; and Catholics in government service overseas. Donations of $15, along with the name and address of a soldier or military family, may be sent to: Adopt Troops and Families, c/o Bayard Inc., 1 Montauk Ave., Suite 200, New London, CT 06320.
