CHICAGO (CNS) -- Father Dennis J. Lyle is the new rector and president of the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary, the Archdiocese of Chicago's seminary. Ordained a priest of the Chicago Archdiocese in 1991, he has been an associate professor in the seminary's department of Christian life since 2000. As rector-president, he will be responsible for all aspects of seminary life. He succeeds Father Thomas Baima, who had been serving as acting rector since Father John F. Canary, the previous rector-president, was named vicar general of the Chicago Archdiocese in February. Father Lyle holds a bachelor's degree in history from Niles College of Loyola University; a master of divinity and licentiate in sacred theology from the University of St. Mary of the Lake; and a doctorate in moral theology from the Accademia Alfonsiana in Rome.
