NCEA vendors take promotions to doors of convention delegates

Published: 2006-04-21

ATLANTA (CNS) -- Before the sun rose on the second day of the National Catholic Educational Association's April 18-21 convention in Atlanta, a hearty "thwock" could be heard outside the doors of conventioneers' hotel rooms. It was a "door drop" of brochures, pamphlets, advertisements and small souvenirs from dozens of the vendors touting their products and services at the convention. After all, the full title of the annual NCEA gathering was "103rd Annual Convention and Exposition." Of the 45 pieces in the package, 17 included the location of the advertiser's booth at the exhibit hall during the three days the vendors could hawk their goods. The items included a candy bar and a booklet titled "The Da Vinci Code Mysteries: What the Movie Doesn't Tell You," professing to know what is or is not in the movie a month before it is to premiere in theaters. The door drop was organized by Today's Catholic Teacher magazine and has been a feature of NCEA conventions for many years.
