RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CNS) -- The board of directors of the Catholic Press Association has appointed Nancy Wiechec, visual media manager for Catholic News Service, to its recently vacated general publisher representative seat. Wiechec will hold the position until spring 2007 when she and other CPA officers and board members will stand for election by the membership. She will be the first CPA board member whose primary job is visual media/photojournalism. For the past 12 years, Wiechec has been working for CNS. As photos and graphics manager for the wire service, she transformed a three-day weekly print service into five-days-a-week digital service with immediate online access to images and graphics. Her career in the Catholic press began in 1987 at The Catholic Sun in Phoenix where she worked as a reporter/photographer and then as associate editor for the diocesan newspaper.
