CNS' Origins announces new online-only subscription plan

Published: 2006-03-10

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Origins, the documentary service of Catholic News Service, has come a long way from its early days 35 years ago. This spring the weekly service is announcing a new subscription plan: Origins in an online-only version. The online-only subscription option -- created in response to requests from numerous subscribers -- has the advantage of eliminating high postage costs for foreign subscribers. It gives subscribers access to Origins' totally searchable online archive, while also allowing them to read the current edition online. Today, Origins provides both print and online versions of a wide variety of Catholic texts: speeches at Catholic colleges, congressional testimonies, bishops' pastoral letters and papal encyclicals. The documentary service is also in the process of providing readers with online access to all of the 7,800 texts it has published in the past 35 years. Origins can be accessed through the CNS Web site, www.catholicnews.com, or at www.originsonline.com. The annual fee for the Origins online-only subscription is $99 for individuals. Schools, organizations and other groups can call (202) 541-3291 to find out about a group rate.
