CCC offers Lenten retreats in English, Spanish on radio

Published: 2006-02-27

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- For people too busy to go on a Lenten retreat, they may want to take their retreat via the radio or the Internet. Franciscan Radio developed a series of six half-hour programs in English and six in Spanish for the Catholic Communication Campaign, the U.S. bishops' mass-media ministry that develops media programming, projects and resources. The CCC has made the retreat programs available to radio stations, but for those who cannot find the programs on their local stations, the series is also available on the Web at: www.radioretreat.org. The programs, hosted by Elia Castillo, feature a bishop as a retreat guide and homilist. Different bishops were lined up for each of the English and Spanish programs, except for the Third Sunday of Lent, when Bishop Gerald R. Barnes of San Bernardino, Calif., is to deliver both the English and Spanish homilies.
