WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Cecile Motus, who has coordinated the U.S. bishops' ethnic ministry programs since 1999, has been named interim director of the U.S. bishops' Office for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees. She replaces Dominican Father Anthony Chinh quang Dao, who had headed the office since 2003. He resigned to work with Hispanics and other ethnic communities in California. The appointment of Motus was announced in Washington Feb. 23 by Msgr. David Malloy, general secretary of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. Motus began working in 1999 at the USCCB as the pastoral care office's ethnic ministries coordinator. "Cecile Motus has an extraordinary background and a deep understanding of migration issues and the needs of migrants," said Mark Franken, executive director of the USCCB Migration and Refugee Services.
