Pope tells Neocatechumenal Way members Christ offers security

Published: 2006-01-12

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Christ offers the rock-hard certainty and security people need to build their lives, Pope Benedict XVI told thousands of members of the Neocatechumenal Way. Speaking specifically to some 200 families heading to mission lands to evangelize, the pope said they would be leaving "without much human support," but that they would be "counting above all on the support of divine providence. Dear families, you can pay witness with your experience that the Lord does not abandon those who entrust themselves to him," he said in a Jan. 12 audience in the Vatican's Paul VI hall. "In a world that seeks human certainties and earthly security, show that Christ is the solid rock upon which to build the structure of one's own life and that faith placed in him is never in vain," he said. The pope made his address to about 10,000 members of the Neocatechumenal Way, including more than 1,000 missionary priests, 2,000 seminarians, and 700 catechists who travel the world spreading the Gospel message.
