Catholic college students meet in Chicago to fan flames of faith
Published: 2006-01-05
CHICAGO (CNS) -- More than 250 Catholic college students and campus ministers got pumped up with enthusiasm at the 22nd annual leadership conference of the National Catholic Student Coalition, held Dec. 29-Jan. 1 in Chicago. With Christian artist Sal Solo leading a praise service before the opening Mass, the room shook with the vibrations of music as the students stood and moved to the music, singing along with the words projected with images on a screen. Minutes after the music ended, Cardinal Francis E. George of Chicago noted that enthusiasm as he celebrated the opening Mass. He said students will need that enthusiasm as they proceed with their mission of evangelizing the world -- especially their part of it, U.S. university campuses. With a theme of "Be the Flame: Ask Me Why I Share My Faith," the conference embraced that mission, he said.
