Published: 2005-12-15
RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CNS) -- The Catholic Press Association has received contributions totaling $15,000 from member publications and individual members for its Emergency/Disaster Relief Fund, but it continues to seek more donations, especially before the year is over. CPA members in the Gulf Coast area are still struggling months after hurricanes Katrina and Rita slammed into the region. "We strongly urge both individuals and publications to consider donating money to this fund," said a statement from Helen Osman, CPA president and editor of The Catholic Spirit, newspaper of the Diocese of Austin, Texas. Checks may be made payable to "Catholic Press Association Publications Assistance Fund" and mailed to the CPA headquarters at: 3555 Veterans Memorial Highway, Unit O, Ronkonkoma, NY 11779. Online donations via credit card can be made through a secured site offered by Catholic Online: https://www.catholicfs.org/donation/cpa/.
