WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The Georgetown Center for Liturgy honored Dominican Sister Catherine Dooley Dec. 8 for outstanding contributions to the liturgical life of the U.S. Catholic Church. Sister Dooley, an associate professor in the school of theology and religious studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington, received the center's 2005 national award "for her excellent and widely influential work in liturgy and catechetics," the center said. Jesuit Father Lawrence J. Madden, founder and director of the center, said that thanks to Sister Dooley and others like her "remarkable strides have been made in the way the Catholic Church in the United States celebrates liturgy since the Second Vatican Council."
