Xavier student from Belize receives nation's top scholarship

CINCINNATI (CNS) -- Courtney Gillett, a junior from Belize studying at Xavier University in Cincinnati, is the recipient of the 2005 Belize Open Scholarship. Gillett was selected from among 81 candidates for the scholarship, awarded annually by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture of Belize to the nation's top-ranked student. "I thank God and my college for giving me the opportunity to further my studies, and I hope that I may be considered a worthy representative of my family, my college and my country while I am here," she said in a statement.
