CNS updates stylebook; target audience not just journalists

Published: 2005-12-08

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Catholic News Service has published an updated version of its newsroom stylebook, titled "CNS Stylebook on Religion -- Third Edition." More than just a guide to spellings and capitalizations, the new "CNS Stylebook on Religion -- Third Edition" is a reference work on all kinds of church terms, with entries on everything from Abba, a proper name for God, to zucchetto, the small, round skullcap worn by Catholic clergy. Previous editions were best-sellers not only within the Catholic press but also among secular journalists who recognized CNS' expertise on church practice and terminology. "We also think the 'CNS Stylebook on Religion' should be in every Catholic high school and college library," said Tony Spence, CNS director and editor in chief. The new stylebook is $14.95 for CNS publishing clients and $19.95 for all others, plus shipping and handling of $4 for one to four copies, and $6 for five to 10 copies. Those interested may call (202) 541-3290 for rates on more than 10 copies. Payment must accompany orders (check or money order made payable to Catholic News Service, or MasterCard or Visa). Orders should be sent to: Catholic News Service, Stylebook on Religion, 3211 Fourth St. N.E., Washington, DC 20017.
