SAN FRANCISCO (CNS) -- Domenico Bettinelli has been named editor of The Catholic World Report news magazine, succeeding Phil Lawler, who retired and will become editor emeritus. Bettinelli, 36, had worked with Lawler since 1995, first as assistant editor and then as managing editor of The Catholic World Report, published by Ignatius Press. Lawler will write occasionally for the magazine and will continue as publisher and editor of the Catholic World News Web site, www.CWNews.com, and said he planned to write a book about the collapse of Catholic culture in his native Boston.
