
New officers elected to lead Catholic rural life organization

DES MOINES, Iowa (CNS) -- Bishop Ronald M. Gilmore of Dodge City, Kan., was unanimously elected president of the Iowa-based National Catholic Rural Life Conference during the June meeting of the organization's board of directors. He succeeded Bishop David L. Ricken of Cheyenne, Wyo., who served five years as rural life conference president. Others elected to leadership roles in the rural life conference were Bishop Joseph L. Charron of Des Moines, vice president; Ursuline Sister Christine Pratt, director of social ministry and advocacy in the Diocese of Toledo, Ohio, secretary; Father Tom Graner, pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Rolette, N.D., treasurer; and Michael Farmer, Kansas Catholic Conference executive director, board member. All will serve for three years.
