Lombard to head news operations for Catholic Online

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (CNS) -- Mark Lombard, chief financial officer of Catholic News Service, has been named editor in chief and director of news operations for Catholic Online. Michael Galloway, president of Catholic Online, made the announcement July 1 at the corporate headquarters in Bakersfield. The position will be effective Sept. 1, with the news operation based in Colchester, Vt. In Lombard, Galloway said, Catholic Online has found someone who can help it grow from one of the most visited Catholic Web sites in the world into the most respected Catholic news portal. "Mark Lombard brings with him a reputation for excellence from all of the organizations to which he has been connected, a can-do and must-do attitude to get things done and a unique ability to build bridges with media professionals -- within and outside of the church -- around the world," Galloway said in a statement.
