'Prayer on Parkway' calls Catholics to honor Eucharist as family
Published: 2005-06-24
PHILADELPHIA (CNS) -- Cardinal Justin Rigali is calling all Catholics in the Philadelphia Archdiocese to join him and his auxiliary bishops in an early-evening Holy Hour Sept. 18 at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway's Logan Circle, in an event that will close the celebration of the Year of the Eucharist in Philadelphia. The Eucharist "theologically unites Catholics as one family -- members of the one body of Christ," said Father Joseph C. McLoone, who is chairing the event. Father McLoone, pastor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in the city, said it is important for families -- young and old, mothers, fathers, children and grandparents -- to participate in the celebration as individual families, as well as part of their larger parish family. The evening service is called "Prayer on the Parkway: Come Celebrate Christ's Eucharistic Presence."
