
Brooklyn auxiliary retires; new auxiliaries named for Seattle

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Pope Benedict XVI has accepted the retirement of Auxiliary Bishop Joseph M. Sullivan of Brooklyn, N.Y. He also named two auxiliary bishops for the Archdiocese of Seattle. The two new auxiliary bishops are Father Joseph J. Tyson, a Seattle archdiocesan priest who is pastor of St. Edward, St. George and St. Paul parishes in Seattle, and Mexican-born Father Eusebio L. Elizondo, a member of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, who is pastor of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Bothell, Wash. The changes were announced in Washington May 12 by Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo, apostolic nuncio to the United States.
