Origins, CNS documentary service, unveils new, more contemporary look
Published: 2005-05-10
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- With the first edition of its 35th year, Origins, the documentary service of Catholic News Service, has adopted a new look. The design change debuted with the May 19 issue, as Origins was seeing a rapid rise in subscriptions to Origins-Plus, a CNS service that allows subscribers to conduct full-text searching in Origins' online archives. The new design incorporates a more open, contemporary style, with more white space, increased leading and new typefaces to create an open feeling without losing any of the content that makes the weekly publication popular among serious students of the church, researchers, church personnel and other subscribers. David Gibson, founding editor of Origins, said the new look will appeal to younger readers without losing the support of faithful subscribers, some of whom have received Origins since it was launched in 1971.
