So much media, so little time -- just ask your kids!
Published: 2005-03-31
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- In March, the Kaiser Family Foundation issued a new study of media usage by the group it calls "Generation M." The "M" for this group, ages 8-18, stands for media. On a typical day, the average Generation M-er consumes eight and a half hours of media a day. Lest you think they're spending more time with media than they are sleeping, not to worry: They cram their eight and a half hours of consumption into six hours and 21 minutes. How is this possible? They spend time with more than one form of entertainment at a time, like playing video games while listening to music. Generation M has had access to these different media virtually all their lives and have understood how to deal with simultaneous media.
