Bishop Moeddel suffers stroke, remains in hospital
Published: 2005-03-30
CINCINNATI (CNS) -- Cincinnati Auxiliary Bishop Carl K. Moeddel remained in the coronary care unit at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati in late March, two weeks after undergoing heart bypass surgery. Bishop Moeddel, 67, underwent surgery March 16. Although the heart procedure was successful, doctors believe the bishop suffered a stroke soon after. His condition was continuing to improve, they said. Ordained to the priesthood in 1962, Bishop Moeddel has served as Cincinnati's auxiliary bishop since 1993. Before his heart surgery, Bishop Moeddel had been living at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Mount Washington and serving as vicar general and director of pastoral services for the archdiocese.
