Christian, Jewish cyclists arrive in Jerusalem after three-week trek
Published: 2005-03-21
JERUSALEM (CNS) -- Three weeks after leaving St. Peter's Square, an interfaith group of 10 Christian and Jewish cycling enthusiasts arrived at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. "This is the culmination of a very long trip," said Ed Kessler, organizer of the trip and founder of the Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations in Cambridge, England. "We have been cycling in snow and rain and sleet and hail and now in the sun. It has been really challenging." The trip, which was sponsored by the center, marked the 40th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council's declaration "Nostra Aetate," on relations between the Catholic Church and non-Christian religions, and to support the work of the center.
