
Two archdiocesan Spanish-language newspapers win awards

PHILADELPHIA (CNS) -- The Spanish-language newspapers of the Washington and Los Angeles archdioceses won first-place journalism awards for 2004 given by the National Association of Hispanic Publications. El Pregonero, a weekly published by the Washington Archdiocese, won four first-place awards in the under-50,000 circulation category, and Vida Nueva, a monthly published by the Los Angeles Archdiocese, won two first-place prizes in the over-50,000 circulation category. Oscar Reyes, editor of El Pregonero, won a lifetime achievement award. The awards were presented during the association's March 9-12 convention in Philadelphia.
