OMAHA, Neb. (CNS) -- With a $50 million pledge from an anonymous graduate, Jesuit-run Creighton University in Omaha joined a small group of U.S. institutions of higher learning that have received such large gifts from living individuals. "This gift is unprecedented for Creighton and certainly places it on the national philanthropic map," said Bruce C. Rohde, vice chairman of the Creighton board of directors and chairman and CEO of ConAgra Foods Inc. "Creighton is proud it has grown up with Omaha," Rohde added. "Creighton has seen rapid growth, outstanding community support and is pleased to be a part of Omaha's downtown riverfront redevelopment. Creighton is an outstanding resource for the citizens of our community and the region."
