Neocatechumenal Way to establish seminary in Dallas Diocese
Published: 2004-12-09
DALLAS (CNS) -- The Neocatechumenal Way will establish one of its missionary Redemptoris Mater seminaries in Dallas next year, the fourth one in the United States for the international Catholic ecclesial community. Dallas Bishop Charles V. Grahmann Dec. 8 issued a decree in ceremonies at Cathedral Santuario de Guadalupe in downtown Dallas that officially established the new seminary as part of diocesan evangelization efforts. "It is fitting that we take this new initiative on the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary," the bishop said. "We welcome these new candidates for the priesthood and applaud the international scope of the Neocatechumenal Way." Redemptoris Mater is Latin for "mother of the redeemer." The bishop's decree placed the new seminary under the patronage of Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego in recognition of the Hispanic heritage of many Texas Catholics. There are Redemptoris Mater seminaries in Denver, Washington and Newark, N.J.
