KANSAS CITY, Mo. (CNS) -- Thomas C. Fox has announced his resignation as publisher of the National Catholic Reporter after an eight-year tenure, saying that the independent weekly newspaper will remain "in very good hands." During his tenure, the 60-year-old Fox beefed up the weekly's news coverage, reopened bureaus in Rome and Washington and saw the newspaper win numerous professional awards. The resignation, effective Jan. 1, was announced Nov. 19 on the newspaper's Web site and in its Nov. 26 print edition. Named as acting publisher was Sister Rita Larivee of the Sisters of St. Anne, associate publisher under Fox. Prior to being publisher, Fox was the Kansas City-based newspaper's editor for 17 years.
