Published: 2004-11-19
WASHINGTON (CNS) -- In a report to the U.S. bishops, the president of The Catholic University of America said recent land purchases have given the school the largest campus in Washington. Vincentian Father David M. O'Connell told the bishops Nov. 17 that the purchase of 50 acres of adjacent land formerly owned by the federal government made Catholic University, at 200 acres, "by far the largest campus in Washington." The land will be used for future expansion. He also reported that the university's endowment is at about $160 million, and the current operating budget and revenues at about $185 million. Father O'Connell reported that current enrollment, at 2,760 undergraduate and 2,900 graduate students, is the highest it has been since the mid-1970s to the late 1970s.
