
Bishop Soto is new episcopal liaison for Catholic youth federation

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- Auxiliary Bishop Jaime Soto of Orange, Calif., is the new episcopal liaison for the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. The bishop, who began a four-year term in November, follows Bishop Matthew H. Clark of Rochester, N.Y., who served two terms as episcopal liaison. In the new post, Bishop Soto will serves as an advocate for the Washington-based federation and for youth ministry with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and keep the federation informed about issues and directions of the USCCB. A member of the USCCB Subcommittee on Youth and Young Adults, Bishop Soto has been involved in national Catholic youth conferences and World Youth Day gatherings. Ordained a priest in 1982, he became an auxiliary bishop of Orange in 2000.
