Ten Commandments project popular with Wyoming's Catholic churches
Published: 2004-11-05
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (CNS) -- Wyoming Catholic churches have responded in a big way to efforts by an organization called Project Moses to place Ten Commandments monuments at churches and other sites across the nation. Sixteen Catholic churches in the statewide Cheyenne Diocese have installed such monuments, and 10 more have fund-raisers under way to put them in place. "Don't tell me your parish is too small" to have a monument, said Joe Worthing, outreach coordinator for Project Moses. He pointed out that even a small Wyoming mission church, Our Lady of the Sage in Baggs, has one. Worthing's nonprofit educational organization wants to re-establish respect for the Ten Commandments by placing monuments at churches, synagogues, religious schools and private residences. So far there are displays at sites in 17 states.
