
Leaders of Catholic Daughters visit shelter, Habitat home in Texas

LAREDO, Texas (CNS) -- National leaders of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas visited sites in Texas and Mexico in mid-October to view projects supported by the organization. The Oct. 10-16 trip included a stop in Laredo at a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence, which the Catholic Daughters support financially and as volunteers, and a stop in Corpus Christi for the dedication of the newest Habitat for Humanity house to be sponsored by the Catholic organization. Catholic Daughters' officials also participated in eucharistic celebrations on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. The entourage was made up of M. Joan McKenna, national regent; Claudia Bosch, first vice national regent; Sally Rytlewski, second vice national regent; Libby Ramirez, third vice national regent; Peggy O'Brien, executive director; and national directors Anne B. Nelson and Jacqueline Smith.
