Lay movement sees more churches offering eucharistic adoration
Published: 2004-09-22
SAN ANTONIO (CNS) -- Depending on your age, you might recall a childhood where a person could step into a church at any time of day or night for a one-on-one with Christ through adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Gradually, in the latter part of the 20th century, 24-hour eucharistic adoration came to an end as more and more churches began to lock their doors after services. The Archdiocese of San Antonio has reversed this trend through the work of a nonprofit lay movement called the Eucharistic Adoration of San Antonio. The movement, which operates under the umbrella of the archdiocese, promotes and facilitates adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and has helped throw open long-locked church doors, not only in the San Antonio area, but nationally and even internationally.
