NEW YORK (CNS) -- Thousands of Catholics nationwide have begun a special novena to pray for the nation as it prepares for national and local elections Nov. 2. Organized by Priests for Life, the nine-week "spiritual bouquet for America" began Aug. 31. It commits Catholics who sign up at the organization's Web site (www.priestsforlife.org/elections) to offer Masses, rosaries, holy hours, hours of adoration, days of fasting and other expressions of prayer during the period leading up to the election. So far, at least 9,400 people have made the commitment to prayer, according to Priests for Life.
