NEW YORK (CNS) -- Vincent Tsang, a lay pastoral minister at Transfiguration Parish in New York's Chinatown, has won the Time-Warner public service award for his outreach to residents of the Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, particularly its Chinese-speakers. Tsang, an employee of Time-Warner through his work as a computer operator at HBO, received the award, along with a $3,000 check for the center and a $2,000 check for himself, at ceremonies in New York. "To say that Vincent has become invaluable is an understatement," said Ellen Stein, director of volunteers at the nonprofit skilled nursing facility, who nominated Tsang for the honor. The multilingual Hong Kong native is especially appreciated by the one-third of the center's residents of Chinese heritage. Tsang, who is fluent in Cantonese and speaks some Mandarin and Toshainese, also has enlisted other Chinese volunteers, Stein said.
