Catholic musician-singer shares message of Christ's love with songs

STRATFORD, Conn. (CNS) -- Bringing the message of Christ and God's love to people though original songs is an important part of Mike Kachuba's life. A professional musician-singer from Stratford and a Catholic, Kachuba has been writing songs for nearly 40 years. But it wasn't until 1997 during a Cursillo weekend in the Diocese of Bridgeport that he was inspired to write his first Catholic Christian songs. Two years later, to bring the music and message to others, Kachuba formed a Catholic band named Day Four with four fellow musicians he met on the same Cursillo weekend. To date, they have recorded two CDs -- "This Side of the Light" and "Zaccheus" -- with Kachuba's original music and lyrics. "Basically this is not an ego thing," Kachuba said. "Day Four is a form of prayer for me, and a form of prayer for us. It helps keep us focused on a spiritual life." The group also plays benefit concerts.
