Priest who started Theology on Tap says hospitality a Catholic virtue

Published: 2004-06-08

MERIDIAN, Idaho (CNS) -- Today's parishes are missing something if they are not being hospitable, according to a Chicago archdiocesan priest. "Hospitality is the Catholic virtue for the third millennium," said Father John Cusick, founder of Theology on Tap sessions for young adult Catholics. He was in Idaho in May to participate in an adult education series sponsored by the Knights of Columbus. Sessions were held around the state, and Father Cusick spoke at Catholic churches in Meridian, Coeur d'Alene, Mountain Home and Twin Falls. At Holy Apostles Church in Meridian, the priest said that hospitality embodies the ways of Jesus -- direct, personal, inviting and always making people feel welcome and accepted. "It's everything," he said.
