Buffalo auxiliary bishop elected diocesan administrator
Published: 2004-06-04
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CNS) -- Auxiliary Bishop Edward M. Grosz of Buffalo has been elected by his diocese's college of consultors as diocesan administrator. He succeeds then-Msgr. Robert J. Cunningham as diocesan administrator. In March the priest was named bishop of Ogdensburg and was installed there May 18. The vacancy in the Buffalo see was created when Archbishop Henry J. Mansell was installed last Dec. 18 as the head of the Archdiocese of Hartford, Conn. Before his appointment to Hartford, then-Bishop Mansell had headed the Buffalo Diocese for eight years. Bishop Grosz will be administrator until a new bishop is installed. He will remain as pastor at St. Stanislaus Parish in Buffalo.
