
National Catholic Reporter, diocesan newspapers win CPA awards

WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The National Catholic Reporter, based in Kansas City, Mo., won the general excellence award for the fifth year in a row in Catholic Press Association judging for national newspapers. Diocesan newspapers winning first-place general excellence awards were The Catholic Spirit, St. Paul, Minn., 40,001-plus circulation; The Southern Cross, San Diego, 17,001-40,000 circulation; and Catholic Anchor, Anchorage, Alaska, circulation up to 17,000. The awards were announced May 28 at the CPA convention in Washington.
